Description: On April 27th, World Tai Chi Day will be celebrated around the world and locally at the J.A.Walters YMCA. All are invited to join Tai Chi instruction and exhibitions in the annual completion of 24 hours of Tai Chi around the globe. This event brings people together across ethnic, racial, social, religious, and geopolitical borders in a celebration of personal and global health and healing. The motto is, "One World ... One Breath". Harvard Medical School has called Tai Chi "moving meditation" and attributes myriad health benefits. The Mayo Clinic has stated that, "properly done, Tai Chi is the most aerobic exercise in the cardio inventory after full step aerobics". Fire Chief Magazine has called upon all Fire Chiefs nationwide to have their firefighters practice Tai Chi for increased breathing control under stress and other health benefits. Tai Chi has also been shown to improve immune functions, help with COPD and Arthritis, and many more. Come join us as we learn and perform Tai Chi. Many local teachers, styles, and classes will be represented.
