One thing I thought I would enjoy about living in the country was fresh produce from farmers markets. So far at the Dahlonega farmers market there's only been honey and jelly. I'm not sure about the Hall County Farmers Market; I don't plan on driving all the way to Gainesville on a Saturday to find out.

My grandparents in South Carolina, though, have plenty of fresh produce. They're growing tomatoes, peppers and cucumbers, and a friend of theirs grows all kinds of things, including okra and cornfield beans. They don't really live in the country; it's a suburb of Greenville. I guess living in the country may be more of a mindset sometimes. My grandmother grew up in the country so she knows how to plant a good vegetable garden and is willing to do the hard work to make it happen.

I don't have any land of my own yet, but I'm growing a tomato plant in a pot on my deck. This if my first attempt at growing a tomato. So far it's grown bigger, but there's nothing resembling a tomato yet.

Ahhhh.....Joys of Dahlonega shine through if you were born there. If not, don't expect the people to be nice to you, ever. Even the Walmart Greeter is rude.
