Kris wins (and Shannon pumps her fists in the air joyously)!!!!!! A perfect ending to a great season! And still so humble, Kris is speechless and points to how great everyone else is.
And his second performance of "No Boundaries" was much improved. In fact, it was awesome.
Perfect ending.
As for the first two hours, I forgot how much fun the Idol finale is. Every performance features "Idol" contestants or alums, and it's just one big, great concert. It must be amazing for those who get to attend.
So how many performers can the "Idol" producers get for their finale? 14. And to make it a little more fun, I'll rate each performance on a scale of one to 10, 10 for the best.
1. Top 13 (4)
Boring. Nobody's gonna sing harmony, really?
2. David Cook (7)
3. Queen Latifah featuring Lil Rounds (7)
Now why couldn't Lil do that during the regular season.
4. Jason Mraz (6)
5. Keith Urban featuring Kris Allen (8)
I love Keith Urban. I love Kris Allen. Doesn't get much better for me, but it's not my favorite Urban song.
6. Fergie and The Black-Eyed Peas (8)
So what did they bleep out with the Idol logo in the middle of the song? Not really my style, but they put on a great performance, and they're always unique.
7. Judge Kara and bikini girl (9)
That was hilarious. And I think Kara showed up bikini girl pretty well.
8. Cyndi Lauper featuring Allison Iraheta (5)
Too laid back for Allison. And I don't think their voices matched very well.
9. Lionel Richie featuring Danny Gokey (9)
Now, their voices did blend well together. And it was such a fun performance.
10. KISS featuring Adam Lambert (9)
He didn't rock out last night, but tonight. That was a rock show. And, just curious, where do you buy sparkly shoulder pad-looking things like Adam was wearing? And did you see the platform shoes?
11. Santana (8)
12. Steven Martin on banjo featuring Megan Joy and Michael Sarver (8)
Such a unique performance. I loved it.
13. Rod Stewart (7)
I love the mandolin. The rest, I didn't really care about, but I really loved the mandolin part.
14. Adam and Kris featuring Queen
Adam really rocked that, too. Great song for him. Not that Kris did a bad job, of course.
My predictions for the future -- both will be successful recording artists. And Adam will have a better chance at doing that not being an Idol than if he had been the winner. So good luck to both. Can't wait to hear them on the radio.
What I loved about the Kiss performance, though, was how, for the first part, all you saw was those crazy spiderweb shoulder pads. Then Kiss comes on, and it looks like Adam's wearing a plain black suit.
